More Information
The identity of this goddess—who holds a child, a rosary hanging from a weapon, and a piece of fruit—is uncertain. She may be the Jain maternal goddess Ambika. More information on the Jain religion can be found in Gallery 3. At some time in the past the child’s face was broken and recarved.
