Vase with wish-granting wands

This meiping shape was distinctive among the light blue glazed types of the Kangxi imperial wares (Palace Mus. 1989: 156). Both the form of the vase, with a ridged neck and foot and a shallow-relief ear on each side of the upper body, and the soft tonality of the glaze are types never seen before. The glaze was used on special objects like this vase and also on some shapes which otherwise usually bear peachbloom glaze. Late reproductions of this type are rather easily distinguished by the softer biscuit and by the evenness of the glaze.
