MarkingsYongzheng mark and blue four-character mark in two columns
Text EntriesThis piece has an unusual square body and a pyramidal lid. The cover was adorned with four friezes of the classical meander, flowers, and lotus patterns surrounding the knob. The pot was painted with blue and gold fungus heads on the neck and floral sprays in pink, green, and red around the shoulder, the handle, and the spout. The four sides depict pink peaches and green bamboo, camellias in shades of pink with a pair of butterflies, a bird on a viburnum branch, and a pale lilac day lily with a butterfly. The four-character mark on the base reads Yongzhen nianzhi ("produced during the Yongzheng period").
