Suiō Genro

MH: Suiō Genro 遂翁元盧 became Hakuin's pupil in 1746 and assumed the pseudonym Eboku 慧牧. In 1764, he is named Hakuin's successor and took the name Suiō Genro. Suiō was also a priest of the Myōshinji branch of the Rinzai Zen school and later became the abbot of Shōinji, a temple in Numazu where Hakuin was ordained and served as abbot.
