The large jar is covered with a thick layer of white slip and decorations are executed by quickly scraping off the slip, revealing the clay body underneath. Shin produces a bold form with decorations which convey the direct and spontaneous effect embodying the buncheong characteristic. He is known as one of the contemporary potters who understands the essence of buncheong aesthetics and incorporates traditional elements into his works as in this piece with his own exuberant modern sensibility.
