BiographyEccentric Japanese Soto Zen monk, painter, and calligrapher. He practiced meditation in caves in emulation of Bodhidharma, giving him the nickname "Ana Fugai" (穴風外). He excelled at ink paintings of Daruma, Hotei, and self portraits.
